Nuclei acids ion haploid and diploid cells of protomyces inundatus
ABSTRACT:
In both haploid diploid strains of protomyces inundates dangeard, grown in liquid culture, DNA content per cell remained conatant irrespective of age of culture. The RNA content were very high in the early stages of growth but declined to fairly constant value at later stages of growth, and at all stages the RNA content of diploids were around 25 percent higher then haploids, the behaviour of protein closely resembling that of RNA. The DNA after X-press extraction had a molecular weight of around 1 x 106 ; in both haploids and diploids . the GC content of Dna from all strains were percent. A melting transition profile analysis of the DNA from various strains showed that proportion of the total DNA contained in the two satellite peaks in diploids was nearly half that found in haploids. It is suggested that some DNA stretches in diploids , on which RNA is transcribed are detected.

Population study of the sclerotia of macrophomina phaseolina in cotton fields
ABSTRACT:
A technique was developed for the isplation and enumeration of macrophomina phaseolina from soil. After wet sieving through 120 mesh screen the soil residue retained on 300 mesh screen was suspended in 0.5 % calcium hypochlorite solution and distributed on PDA containing penicillin ,

Observation regarding phylogenetic position of dichotomosiphonales ( bryopsidophyseae)
ABSTRACT:
Akinetogenesis and gametogenesis were stidied in dichotomosiphon tuberoses from hub river (Pakistan) . filaments were found to contain abundabce amyloplasts , akinetes were septate and arranged in chains with male gametes completely lacking flagella. Arguments are give in favour of keeping this monospecific genus in its own order, dichotomosiphonales the affinities of this order have been discussed with other siphonus algae. A diagrammatic scheme has been suggested to show the phylogenetic positions of dichotomosiphonales and to indicate its interrelationships with the other orders of bryopsidophyseae.

Effect of plant spacings on yield and certain other characters of sunflower vas. HO-I
ABSTRACT:
A spacing trial with row spacings 12”, 24” and 30” and plant spacings of 6”, 9” and 12” conducted with sunflower variety HO-I for four years showed that closer spacings generally resulted in higher seed yield. Head diameter and seed yield per plant were the most

Cycological and morphological studies on allotetraploids of (G.arbpreum x G. stocksii) and (G. stocksii x G. arboretum)

Cycological and morphological studies on allotetraploids of (G.arbpreum x G. stocksii) and (G. stocksii x G. arboretum)
ABSTRACT:
Allo-tetraploids of (G.arbpreum x G. stocksii) (A) and (G. stocksii x G. arboretum) (B) were obtained by colchicine treatments. Cylogical studies of the allotetraploids revealed 2.2 I, 24.6 II and 0.21 III with 88.35 pollen stainability percentage in (a) and 6/7 I, 20.6 II , 1.1 III AND 0.2 IV with 83.7 pollen stainability percentage in (B). morphological studies were also undertaken and comparing to diploid hybrids the allotetraploids were luxuritant in growth , resistant to pest and drought with increased pollen stainability and fertility ( fruit setting), indicating complete sterility of the diploid hybrids which was overcome by colchicine treatments.

Stem anatomy and nodal anatomy of the genus knema
ABSTRACT:
The anatomy of the young stem and nodal was investigated in ten species of the genus knema. The young stem is coverec by trichomes . secretory cells, canals, acicular crystals and druses are found in the parenchymatous tissue. The stem has a periderm of superficial origin, cortical sclerieds, plates of sclerieds in the pith and a pseudo-siphonostetic primary vascular system capped on the outside by groups of separate extraxylary fibers . the phloem is made up of primitive sleve tube elements with a large number of unspecialized sleve areas and oblique end-walls. All species show a unilacular three-trace node.
