ABSTRACT:
Immature protophloem sieve elements present in the embryo of phaseolus mungo mature about the time of germination . the sieve elements differentiate both acropetally and basipatally. There are numerous protophloem sieve tubes in the uppe hypocotyl. These are connected by anastomosis to four sieve tube, in the root . the protophloem sieve tubes are accompanied by hyperchromatic phloem parenchyma. Hyperchromaticity is the greatest near the differentiating end in the root vascular bundles in the cotyledon are amphicribral . thin deposis of callose are present in some sieve plates but absent in others.

Genotype- environment interaction in barley varieties suitable for northen Iraq.
ABSTRACT:
The joins regression analysis technique was used to investigate the adaptation of seven varieties of barley ( aswad, Vpaltidum 1337, V-mex, II , 1105/1, V- well, V-11941 , and arrivat grown under six, natural dry-farming environment of northen Iraq. Aswad and V-paltidum 1337 responded wwll below the average. They were adapted to low yielding environments but were relatively unstable . on the other hand V- 11941 and arivat responded well above the average . the latter varieties were adapted to high yielding environments but were relatively the most stable

Phytosociological study of the graveyards of Peshawar district, NWFP, PAKISTAN

The vegetation of the graveyards of the district of Peshawar , NWFP , Pakistan was sampled and analysed . a comparision of the amounts of available Na , K , Ca, NO3 and PO4 in the soils of the graveyards and the adjacent wild- lards was made. The soil of the graveyards was rich in Ca and PO4. Tht number of CaCO3 in the soil govern the diminants of the community .

Multivariate approaches to the analysis of the vegetation- environment complex of gharo, dhabeji and manghupir industrial areas.
ABSTRACT:
Twenty stands from 4 localities voz, gharo, dhabeji, shujaabad and manghupir industrial areas were sampled quantitatively and the soil samples from various stands were analysed physically and chemically. Using dis-similarly matrix of species composition a three-dimensional phytosociological ordination was constructed. The three=dimensional environmental ordination was constructed on the basis of integrated response to various soil factors. Thus the moisture gradient , calcicolous gradient and silt-clay gradient served as the axes of the ordination. The studt of the spatial pattern of 10 important species in the phytosociological as well as environmental ordination showed that no two species were identically distributed and each species followed a more or less continuous distribution pattern. Marine centric diatoms comprising of 101 species and 30 genera were recorded from highly polluted lower harbor , Karachi chaetoceros and rhizosolenia were the most diverse genera . the temporal and spatial distributionsof species were irregular and species diversity hih, which may be the result of extremely unstable environmental conditions in the harbor. The species composition was also significantly different from that of the shelf.

Effect of temperature on the pressure induced reproductive in cladophora vagabunda (L) hoek

The post-treatment influence of hydrostatic pressure on C. vagabunda from western bathic sea was studied. Variability in the degree of inhibition of pyruvate oxidase system under high pressure of oxygen has been onserved . in aspergillus niger only 6% of the total carbohydrate used appeared as pyruvate in the medium . whereas in mucor about 50% of the total carbohydrate used appeared as pyruvate in the medium . studies with radioactive glucose revealed that in mucor sp. The inhibition of pyruvate oxidase system is virtually complete , whereas in A. niger there is only partial inhibition of pyruvate oxidation allowing some pyruvate to either the TCA Cycle.

Decomposition of diplachne fusca (L). beauv and suaeda fruticosa forsk in salt- affected soils
ABSTRACT:
Decomposition of diplachne fusca and suaeda fruticosa in saline soil with resultant changes in cellulolytic soil mycoflora and soil chemical properties have been studied in beakers for 42 days. Cellulolytic soil mycoflora increased with prolonged incubation and was greater in case of D. fusca amendment. D. fusca supported a comparatively wider variety of mycoflora , cellulose activity increases in both the amendments but was greater in case of D.fusca amendment. Soluble Na+1 and Ca+2 and mg+2 increased with prolonged incubation in both the cases ; the increase was greater in case of S. fruticosa amendment . organic matter decreased but the decrease was slightly lessin case of S. fruticosa amendment . humic acid content was greater in case of S. fruticosa amendment.
