Transmission of deficient gametes bu monosomics of avena sativa L.
Abstract
Parental monosomics (2n-1=4) derived from the cultivars garry (WM 2-1 ) from Canada and borreck (GM I-I) from west Germany , their monosomic F hybrids and BC 1-BC4 to sun II were used to study the transmission of deficient gamtes. The frequency for functional 20- chromosome male gametes was lower in the homozygous than heterozygous monosomics. The 40-, 41- and 42- chromosome progenies in selfed monosomic indivisuals depend upon the proportion of deficient (2n-I) but functional male gametes . the correlation between the proportion of 20-chromosome gametes produced and the proportion that function is significant.
